'Tis the Season for... Denim Jackets!

-RoniVintro
Don't you hate it when people ask you "Isn't it too hot to wear that?!" and then you have to respectfully answer them with a literal slap across the face because evidently you're not bothered  by the supposed unbearable heat wave that they seem to believe you're suffering from. Well, that was something i had to get off my chest because I absolutely LOVE my Denim jacket!!!!! Many are afraid to embrace the blue Beast but not fashionistas like yourself and I. We have to teach the world to pull that misunderstood creature out the back of the closet, roll the sleeves up, pop the collar and go! (well maybe not pop the collar) But you can't go wrong with a Denim jacket! ....unless you do double denim with the same wash of denim...fail. But double denim different wash is certainly acceptable! So GO Different! GO DENIM!!!

How to Be a successful Thrifter! :)

As we all know,  Vintro is a Proud supporter of the Salvation Army,  Goodwill, and any other amazing thrift store that we have come across. I personally LLLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOVVVVVVVVVVEEEEEEE the thrift store because first, it is just a fun place to go with your friends if you just wanna go try on goofy clothes from over the years but second, THEY HAVE AMAZING CLOTHES!  WHY in the WORLD would you go and pay a MILLION DOLLARS at Department Stores (the statement excludes Macy's Since they employ me lol) but forreal think about it. It is so true about what they say about styles come back around.  I paid three dollars for a cute red poka dot dress that was the same style that they had at Forever 21 for thirty.  Hmmmm.... Lets contemplate the savings.... Thats TWENTY SEVEN dollars that I will spend on the pair of shoes that I am going to buy...( Sidenote:  I don't condone buying shoes from the thrift store... Dont know where their feet have been : / lol) And when you shop at the thrif store you are helping out all the people that work for Goodwill and Salvation Army!!! These are amazing NonProfit Organizations that help just about everybody!!!  Also Donate!!!! Everything counts :)
So Heres A Coupla Tips  For All You New Thrifties!!
1)Be Patient!!!!
I know EVERYTIME I go into the goodwill i think Im finna die because everything is unorganized.I know its hard.. But you just have to be ready to look for things.  Go on a day that you have nothing to do.  It can be relaxing if you let it.
2)  Try things on!!!!
Things look soooo different if you just try them on!  If you see a pattern or a style that you like just try it on!  It might not look exactly how it is made today but I bet when you try it on YOU CAN ROCK THE ISH OUT OFF IT!!
3)  BE CREATIVE!!!
So you try something on and it doesnt fit or its to big or its too long.  Im sure you have someone in your life that can sew!! GET it anyway!!! you can alter it! Or go home grab some scissors n get the cutting!!  I mean its not like your losing a small fortune if you distroy it! You can jus go and try again!! Or you can accesorize it! Throw a waist belt on or a skinny belt! Lots of jewelry!!! Rock some pumps!!  Its amazing what you can do with a little creativity!
4)  Be Curtious :)
I know sometimes its hard to go into the thrift store and not get frustrated with the mess but its kool just be nice and ask one of the store associates their and im sure they'll be glad to help!! :)
5)  HAVE FUN!!!!
This is the most important thing!!!! Your there to have FUN!!!! BE GOOFY! TAKE PICS! GO with friends! LAUGH! Its an experience that you absolutely have to have!!! :) Take it from me!! I go all the time with the VINTROx Crew. I would steer you wrong!

Thanks for Reading!!

vintage+retro=_____

You guessed, it equals VINTRO!! So alot of post have been more about the classic vintage aspect of VINTROx, and alot of people like to use those words (vintage and retro) interchangeably, but vintage would be a much more classic style of dress, like the homemakers of 40's-60's ( Casablanca, I Love Lucy, OLD Hollywood, things that make you think of Grease) while retro is much more the hip hoppers of 70's-80's even early 90's (old soul train, Cosby Show, In Living Color, Living single, Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Run DMC) but as Roni and I picked out clothes for one of our models to wear to a photo shoot, I had to remind myself of this fact! You see I am much more accustomed to and fond of the classic aspect, but as I sat at Mike's (the model) desk, looking at his bed littered in potential outfits I had to recall the other half of VINTRO, Retro, and once it came back to me, all sorts of options opened up! Acid wash jeans, faded jean jacket vests, vibrant wind breakers, snap back hats, even jerseys (mmm... maybe not quite yet) and as Roni and I picked the last few outfits for the photo shoot, I smiled to myself with excitement, and smiled hard, for the simple fact, for so long I completely ignored Vintage's "fraternal twin" Retro. By remembering and embracing it again I felt complete, and made a vow to never forget the grimmey, urban, vibrant, rule-breaking other half to Vintage. I'll end it like this, don't close yourself into a box, I always say that, and I still mess up on it, but if we learn from these mistakes there is no reason you and I can't be successful, inventive, different, and most of all you (and I)... the best we you and I can be!
Love You!!
-Victoria E Jones @lizabvintro

p.s Also remember everything is recycled through history to present to future, we tell the same stories, every movie you see, that story has been told before. Every song you have heard has been sung before. Every struggle that has been endured and overcome has been endured and overcome before. I say that to say, every trend we are about to see has been seen before, they are being recycled so don't be sad if one of your favorite articles of clothing has been deemed "out" because eventually, probably in the near future, it will make it's cycle and be right back "in!"

fa-fa-fa-fa-FANNY PAK

and No I did not make a typo when I was doing the title. .

We at VintroX support the ARTS! all types of ARTS (Music, Arts, Fashion, and Dance) and when I thought about VintroX(a combination of Vintage and Retro) I remembered one of the most REMARKABLE dance teams to EVER grace the stage of ABDC(America's Best Dance Crew). They influenced SOOOOO many other teams on the seasons following. Their name is Fanny Pak.
and everyone who watched the show, and those who danced on the show (seeing as I had a cousin in Southern Movement) said that Fanny Pak should have won Season 2. With their futuristic dance style and 80's inspired style of dress they were a force to reckoned with! and YES THEY WORE FANNY PACKS (and i own one).

From sunny Los Angeles, California Matt, Glenda, Beau, Megan, Tiffanny, Cara and Phil has always had a fan in me. Since their audition for ABDC season 2 til now, they have always been *nicki minaj voice* the BESTEST! From coming in 3rd(1st) in the ABDC competition, to winning the VMA challenge, to getting their own fanny pack line then shoe line then a MILKSHAKE and now a CD; Fanny Pak is accomplished and will continue to be accomplish great things.

Their dance style is a combination of hip hop, jazz, contemporary, and odd motions that ACTUALLY make sense; their dance style is something that has NEVER been seen before. Their concepts and ideas, all original, unique, well though out and just downright DOPE!

Dont believe me?? WATCH FOR YOURSELF!!!!

But YES! Fanny Pak a RETRO dance extravaganza that has set the stage for some HIGH QUALITY performance on ABDC and they still bring the heat, as you can see in the video!!

get your Fanny on this Fanny Pak!! #FannyPakMovement

vans toms and chucks

I was sitting at my desk trying to decide what to write about and as I took a frustrated stretch, I kicked my  feet up on the desk and looked around the room for inspiration, then I glanced down... sneakers!! I love sneakers, I have never been much for fancy heels and in my search for an equivalent replacement I have found that vans, toms, and chucks are perfect ways to swag out and "unheeled outfit". I have never seen someone in a pair of toms NOT thought "wow they are probably super cool." Toms seem to make even the most plain jane vneck and jeans a pretty dope outfit, AND they serve a good cause! Everytime you buy a pair they give a pair to a child in need. While vans have the potential to add pizazz to any outfit. (But some people are determined to kill vans too, by matching them with highlighter neon screen tees and plastic jewelry while others pair the easy to wear skate boarding shoe with layers and layers of nike socks, smh) But even through the trials and tribulations, they are still amongst the coolest shoes out there. While chucks remain an American classic, my parents were wearing chucks when they were kids, and as a big kid myself I feel it necessary to keep this treny tradition going, and passing it down to my kids... Most days you will catch me in one of these 3types of shoes, I am not here to blow smoke or talk about something I know nothing about, no no no I am giving you a shopping list of three of the  most dependible sneakers that'll ADD something to your wadrobe... so next time you think of buying an all white pair of forces, reconsider, try something different I promise its worth it!! You won't have to worry about creases or them getting dingy very quickly and they are less expensive!! Well I am trying to learn to be a little less long winded so I hope you enjoyed this, SO I SHALL END HERE.
Love,
Victoria E Jones

D. O. SB.

-RoniVINTRO
Just like bell bottoms, leather pants, or overalls, all styles and fads get played out and find their way to a fashion cemetery. But there is one used-to-be deity that has recently been murdered by the masses....snapbacks. Bandwagon individuals have destroyed what used to be only a "cool kid" style of hat. They are on a rampage and out to suck every ounce of AWESOMENESS from everything that is or ever will be awesome. Such heinous crimes have happened to pieces such as the acid wash jean, suspenders, and colored skinny jeans! If individuals would just...be INDIVIDUAL then such pieces could live on...in peace. But as of now... I call this piece Death of the Snapback. (Don't let it happen to TOMS!..... they are now selling them in retail stores.....ahhhhhhhhhh)

NO FOR REAL!! What is the V word?

So many people have come to me with questions about VINTROx, and what we stand for, what our goals are, and really just trying to figure out exactly who we are and what we do since they have started reading the blog, so I thought I would give the audience a little history on us really quick.
Upon entering the cafeteria at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) on November 17, 2009 I was stopped in my tracks by 5 beautiful people: Demarcus (who sews like he has been sewing for centuries, and he has only just begun with a passion most only dream about having), Josh (JStar, who has a beautiful spirit and is known for his one of kind original ideas, style, and love for GaGa), Roni (who has a determination for VINTROx that is unlike any other, she constantly refers to it as her "baby" and style that can only be described as inspiring) , Melina (who has a sick shoe obsession, and represents VINTROx everywhere and in everything she does to the best of her abilities), and Andrea (who has stayed motivated through this long grueling process even when some where starting to run out of steam).... And as I looked at these beautiful, well-dressed creatures I could see they all had their own personal styles (which were amazing), yet some how they all kind of went together (which was even more amazing!), So I walked towards them in hopes of getting on this stylish "train". You see I knew them all separately, I had seen them around MTSU campus looking extremely HOTT but today was different there was so much fashion and positive energy all at once, I knew they could sense it too! So I pulled up a chair and immediately JStar and Roni began to talk about fashion and how we all dressed, see every single one of us has a vintage or retro inspired wardrobe, some of us pull clothes that are more 70's inspired, some 80's, some even 40's... But it all fit! Immediately all of our gears started rotating as we began to devise a plan in which we could take over the world, but first we would have to create a name, we were vintage we were retro then JStar tensed up and yelped "We are VINTRO", and that is how we began.

Since then we have added a couple people to the team that are making big strides in bringing us closer to our dream: Dominique who is a transfer football player from LSU and huge peoples person and Dana who is a wiz on the sewing machine and also a big people person (others just seem to flock to their warm spirits). From there we have begun styling people (such as Lauren J) and planning many events including art shows, fashion shows,  and open mic nights (all of which are coming soon). Our main objective is to promote creativity through art, fashion, and music and eventually we would like to have a clothing line, style people, maybe own a gallery here and there and even host open mic nights (yes I know we are dreaming big, but without big dreams and aspirations, what is the point of going on in life??... that is called going through the motions.. uhh no thanks!). We also hope to have fund raisers in the future in which we can donate money and art supplies to school systems that are starting to drop their art and music programs due to budget cuts. We are a long way from our dreams but we will get there as long as we believe and continue to work, hopefully you believe in us as well, because VINTROx believes in you!!! We love you and appreciate you for hanging around during our come up!!
forever yours,

The Eye of Appreciation..

Whether I am walking around a beautiful museum filled with beautiful dresses, or unique student art, or watching two amazingly talented pianist play light and beautiful music, I always look around at the other people in the crowd with me. Are they just as awed as I am? Are they wishing that they could understand what this wierd painting means? Are they wishing they had this amazing talent? Are they taking it all in like i am?
Because that is exactly what is going through my mind....I think that God put Artists on this earth so they could make amazing wierd and beautiful pieces, and then... he was like wait...One moment! Whats the point of these artists having this amazing talent and no one to appreciate it? So he made people like me!! To look and feel in awe and to praise these amazing people!! He put us on this earth to try to figure out how these people think and express themselves in different ways that we can't.
I mean I could try my hardest to make a song or paint a picture or write a book or poetry but its just not going to sound write or look write.  So I was made for this....

I can always tell the people who appreciate art. You can tell by the glit in their eyes and the little quirk of a smile on their lips. Its like their in deep thought. Their pondering of how the music or art or poetry relates to them, how they couldn't make this art to relate how they were feeling so they find it in others works.  How it is uniquely beautiful, or how it takes their breathe away. I see beauty in this look just as I see beauty in the art. The eye of appreciation is just as important as the piece itself... It has praise and love in its look. Its beautiful.... So don't be discouraged if you dont think you have any talent because you do. You have the gift of praise.. You are just as important as the artist themselves. Thanks for taking your time to read my blog on this beautiful tuesday... :)

Having A Vintrox Attitude

HOLA WORLD!!!
How is everyone?? ANYWHOO!

I’ve been noticing something lately, and as I walked around campus I saw that many people had DISGUSTINGLY HORRIBLE attitudes. I mean it not cute or anything so what is the purpose or you bad attitude. It will NOT get any business done or get your HIGHER in life. Attitudes are contagious.  Are yours worth catching?”  -Dennis and Wendy Mannering I don’t think people actually realize bad attitudes are contagious and are of the DEVIL! (lol) See we as VintroX are promoting a positive attitude! (so if you see a VintroX member with the stank face or the ‘I gotta attitude’ face going on stop them and let them know that their face needs to CHANGE! ASAP!) Positive attitudes actually contribute to majority of your success. Every successful person that I have listened to has stated that when they were younger and deciding what they wanted to do in life, they always proclaimed what they wanted to do and remained as positive as possible when they were on their pursuit to success.  So that means you need to lose the attitude MISS THING and MR. “IMDHASHXT”!

today's tranny

Remember when being a tranny was considered weird to some people!?!?! Its was frowned upon for a man to dress like a girl and for a woman to be "butch." Now all you hear is pretty boy this and pretty boy that.... and shoulder pads are making a comeback for women who once preferred a slender "13 year-old girl" physique. It's a beautiful role reversal! Nothing excites my mind more then an optical illusion and that is exactly what I am being served up with today's TRANNY.

With fashion taking an interesting turn for the better, women have begun to not only embrace shoulder pads, but bow ties, suspenders, tailored pants, loose fitting jeans, "grandpa cardigans", fedoras, blazers as well. For some reason there are women who are turning their noses up to this wave of masculinity in ladies clothing, but it is not be feared... How long have We fought to be considered equals? Well the time and opportunity is here and now women!!! Lets lift our glasses and toast to finally getting to wear the pants... fashionably, confidently, and sexier then any man could ever wish to. You go girl, no excuse me, work it WOMEN!

DONT SMOKE!!
Your turn men, let's go ahead and talk about this "pretty boy" epidemic. Now I fully intend to uplift you all in this post BUT i need to address one con that has come along with this epidemic.. Polo. Now in doses my dear friend Ralph Lauren  is more then acceptable, but when you have him on head to toe, that is TOO MUCH. By all means if you truly want to be a walking advertisement for Mr. Lauren then disregard my last comment, it is your life and regardless of what i have to say you will live it the way you want to, and that is fine...... I guess. But with the disclaimer out of the way I will take the time to say men, if you want to wear tight pants, shorts that are a bit shorter then the norm, low cut v-necks, lots of jewelry, then you better work it!!! Who cares what your basic friends have to say? Aren't those the same friends who are wearing Girbaud jeans and tall tees? Yea I thought so. So fellas if it tickles your fancy to wear things that may be considered feminine to some then do it!!! As a woman I am telling you, there is NOTHING wrong with a man who is fashionably conscious!! I actually get a little "excited" when I see a man who can dress and takes initiative in his appearance, and I am sick of guys who can't dress calling it "gay" get a life and some style then come back and judge!!

Well that is it for this post guys!! In case anyone is still confused as to how to achieve these styles VINTROx will be hitting you guys with the dos ant donts of today's tranny so keep a look out
I Love You ALL with my entire spirit!!! And don't let anyone knock you're style, even me... If you really feel girbauds is what you need in your life then ..... do it..... I guess, I still love you

More of Monae!!

No Seriously I have been ITCHING and ITCHING to get a hold to a copy of Janelle Monae's CD "The Archandroid" for a while (seeing as it has been out for months now) and let me just start this out by saying. . . . OOOOOOOOH WOW!! #PAUZ!

Janelle literally channels some of the greatest artist of all time to make this AWESOME CD! This is the type of music I can respect. I wasn't ready for this FIRE at all. I feel as though this Cd doesn’t have a specific genre at all. I hear pop(ish) songs, r&b songs, smooth jazzy type songs and more. I literally had a musical OVERDOSE at 3:10 in the morning (as I listened while i was at the desk!) EVERY track had its own feel to it and i feel as though there is a story (that Star has now picked up on yet) that she is telling, and whatever she is selling IM BUYING!! I'm hooked! it is hottttt! I hear Beyonce, Andre 3000, Prince, Michael Jackson, Aretha Franklin and more all in one! But the thing is. . .its JANELLE MONAE! <3

Tracks that Shined to Star:
  • Dance or Die
  • Locked Inside
  • Cold War
  • Mushroom & Roses
  • Neon Valley Street
  • BaBopByeYa
  • Say You’ll Go (my ULTIMATE favorite track)

but YES indeed! Get this CD! it is a MUST MUST MUST MUST MUST HAVE!! sooooo follow me @i_R_Starz and @JanelleMonae and the rest of Vintro on twitter!!

the golden age of COUTURE

Okay you guys, I am going to try my hardest to keep this post from sounding like a history lesson BUT it will be kind of hard if those reading don't have a love for fashion.... Today a few members of VINTRO, including myself, went to Frist, Center for the Visual Arts in Nashville Tn, upon arrival we were greeted by a billboard sized poster-thingy with one of the most beautiful dresses I have ever seen in my life printed on to the front.  As we attempted to catch our breaths and find the side door my heart began to race, I could hear a live band playing and feel the excitement waiting for me around the corner. I walked to the counter, quickly flashed my MTSU I.D. (students got in free WHAT WHAT!) snatched my ticket, not intending to be rude but too excited to be held up by small talk with a cashier, and began my journey through time, starting with the opening pieces, a vibrant red formal afternoon dress by Christian Dior for an autumn/winter collection in 1955-56 and a black suit by Michael of Carlos Place in 1954, I soon fainted and had to be rushed away to a hospital, okay not really... I couldn't do that, then I might have had to miss this once in a lifetime opportunity. So i collected myself read about the selected pieces and continued through to the room.

***sidenote I am going to have to leave out somethings to make sure this post isn't 25 pages long, I hope I haven't lost any readers yet!! stick with me its sooo worth it if you cant make it to the exhibit!!****

So fast forward past all the informational stuff, I'm pretty sure most of you don't want to hear that par, so I will skip to my favorite pieces and a little background info on those pieces. I will start with a red Christian Dior "Zemire" Evening Ensemble made in 1954-55. The Zemire is one of Dior's most historical designs. I loved everything about this "ensemble" you could basically see the volume and movement of the full skirt as it sat in front of me frozen in time behind the 5 inch glass fortress built around it. For three seconds I had to fight the urge to kick down that glass wall, take the dress and run screaming out the door, I am assuming the security guard saw that twinkle in my eye and the twitch in my leg because he swiftly ran to my side and tightened the grip on his nightstick and asked me to step away from the Dior, so I did so quickly, happy that someone was there and able to distract me from my momentary crazed obsession.

color appears more vivid in person!!
I quickly walked away trying to avoid a mental breakdown when a luminous hot pink evening dress by Cristobal Balenciaga stopped me dead in my tracks. The security guard saw my new found excitement and began charging at me, I swiftly spun around, put my hand up and screamed for him to stop. "I'm fine" I whispered under breath, and he reluctantly stepped back... "I'm fine" again I reassured him. As he cautiously stepped back into his corner I excitedly skipped away getting even closer to this beautiful work of art. As I got past the glare and reflection of myself, what stared back at me was nothing short of breath taking; the shape, the color, the body, the stitching, buttons, and bows made me jizz a little bit, the guard made a loud uncomfortable grunt so i contained my self and continued to the next item featured in the glass case. (fast forward a bit...)

As I entered the room over I faced a new security guard who didn't seem quite as capable of stopping me if I had another "urge" so I gave myself a quick pep talk, took 3 deep breaths and the next item stopped me mid 4th deep breath so I made my move toward this beautiful Michael Sherard cocktail dress made in London in 1958 with French re-embroidered ribbon lace and taffeta. This dress was enough to send even the most plane-jane-tshirt-jean-wearing women on a wild gooses chase across the world in search of something even remotely similar. But thanks to my 3 1/2 deep breaths I was in enough control to where I could just admire the dress calmly like, well kind of like, the other observers. The dress sent goose bumps, no better yet goose boils, down the center of my back. As I yelp in my excitement at finding yet ANOTHER favorite dress I spot something out the corner of my eye... something big enough to distract me from the security guard's advances...

What do I see?? THE DRESS FROM THE POSTER!!!!! Readers when i tell you guys I heard walkie talkies going off screaming code red code red, saw 4 or 5 security guards, and one REAL cop pacing toward me, and sirens going off you're going to think I am lying... But I promise you it happened and had it not been for those sirens and security officers they would have been one evening gown short when they started shipping this stuff back to the V&A museum in London, and I would have found a way to squeeze myself into that beautiful gown and never let anyone or anything come anywhere close enough to me to take it off. It was a gown from a fairytale, a gown that told a story itself. I wanted to cry, laugh, scream, throw a tantrum, jizz all at once after viewing the dress for only a few moments. Although heavily restrained by the officials I was still able to gain a glance at this dress that changed my life FOREVER!! The dress was way more breath taking in person, although had you told me that at the beginning of  this hectic tour I wouldn't have been able to believe you, as you probably do not believe me as I recite to you my encounter with this piece of art. To get the full affect of this beautiful Pierre Balmin evening dress worn by Lady Diane Cooper and understand my obsession, one would truly have to be within spitting distance (although if anyone ever even thought about truly spitting on this one of a kind gown i would rip their entire face off!!) to notice the intricate roses prickled with thorns climbing up the dress and the beautiful petals laid across her torso, simply breath taking!......After about two seconds of physically, mentally, spiritually, even sexually experiencing this dress I was drug away by top flight security of the world I decided to stop fighting, I got everything and more after visiting this museum I experienced the vintage world of couture, that I originally fell in love with, first-hand.. a blessing only God could give. So I let them drag me across the floor and throw me out onto Broadway in Nashville, because there was nothing they could do that would subtract from the day I had at the Frist! Thank you and VINTRO LOVES YOU... I applaud you if you made it allll the way to the end and i hope you enjoyed reading it!!!

Lauren J on the track!!!!!!!!

An MTSU (middle tennessee state university)  "one to look out for" would definitely be Lauren J!! Due to the fact that I have been around she and her manager Miss Ronnie V constantly over the past few weeks (because VINTRO is styling her upcoming event!!) I have gotten to see the huge strides they have made recently, and I have gained a new boost of motivation just from watching them!! Both of these women are about their business!! They approach this male dominated music world with a fierce determination that is enough to send even the most chauvinistic man cowering into a corner with a little pee dripping down his leg. (hahaha too much???)  No but seriously this artist, her manager, and the lighthouse team truly are doing their thing! They are making big moves and if you are any where near Murfreesboro; no better yet any wear near Tennessee on September the 14th (random thought ronivintro's birthday!)between 11-2 then it would be a DISASTER if you decided, for whatever reason short of a funeral or a medical emergency, not to attend Lauren J's big event in the KUC on MTSU campus!!

A large part of VINTRO is promoting people's creativity so seeing Lauren J use MTSU as a launching pad for singing career definitely inspired this post! MTSU watch out for the betty movement!! No excuse me, WORLD watch out for the betty movement!! Lighthouse is doing HUMUNGOUSLY GINOURMUS THINGS

***We are proud of you guys... SOOO continue to make us proud :)***

the do's and dont's for living a vintro lifestyle!!!

DO wear huge floral prints, whether it be a skirt, shirt, pant, or blazer... anyone who thinks big floral is only for granny is badly mistaken!!!! In a great dress like the one to the right who wouldn't feel beautiful and empowered??? Put it all over YOUR BODY!! Make sure you put on deodorant too, because you should want to smell as good as a flower.

DO NOT cover yourself in labels!!! head to toe labels all aver your body is tooo much! No one wants to pay to be an advertisement billboard so let those fake Louis Vuitton, Coach, and Gucci jackets, purses, iron shirts, and backpacks rest for awhile, give your Apple Bottom diamond bedazzled pants to your 13 year old niece, because its not cute, alot of the time these things actually come off appearing cheap and tasteless, and judging by the price tag the people paying these prices want to be neither of these things! so give it up and hit up a cool vintage or thrift shop, you'll be surprised at what you will find.

DO think outside of the box, matter of fact eliminate the box completely!! If you are a girl and you want to rock a bow tie and/or shoulder pads... go for it!!!! If passer-byers look at you crazy, who cares?? Besides its probably that same close minded individual rocking the apple bottom and a fury bubble jacket (you thought i was getting ready to say boots with the fur didn't you?) and for guys if you wanna wear a bow tie to class with a cardigan or blazer and some crazy colored pants then go for it!! Once again the only ones who will be laughing will be those wearing the luggz and 4xl tall tees!!!

DO NOT limit yourself to that tiny simple box and think you have to wear highlighter plastic jewelry with graphic t shirts, that say something along the lines of "i love my boyfriend" or "i stole your boyfriend" or "i stole your girlfriend" or a gangster dough boy or monopoly man that says "i get money"... I doubt you do or else you wouldn't have on that dusty 5 year old air brushed tee and those crusty ashy black pants... we have got to do better!

DO round your nails or keep the relatively short with colors in time for the season!! a great nail color and shape is complimentary to and outfit!!.. (pale green is really in right now)
DO NOT go super long and ghetto/trashy with crazy designs and nails so long they curl at the end.... my only question is why would anyone, at any time in their life need ten 8 inch acrylic fingernails for ANYTHING????

DO get a fantastic short, whether it be a high wasted rolled short with cool pleats or shorts with a great FLORAL print or a slim fitting tailored short or a great jumper, in most cases i am a fan of shorts, especially if they make a statement... well a good statement!!!!!
DO NOT  do a short that makes you look sloppy, most cargo shorts, not all but most are a don't in my book, don't do a short that is not at the appropriate length, I very rarely think things are too short but it is a possibility, and sometimes those walker shorts that kind of tailor in toward the middle of your thigh can be very unforgiving and actually take away from your fit, and always ALWAYS be careful with shorts that are making the awkward transition into weird capris!

ALMOST DONE!!

DO get an awesome bag to carry your things in!! Try a messenger bag (guys and girls) something cool to throw over your shoulder before heading to class could always add a little umph to any outfit. Also cool things to try are the vintage inspired leather back pack I always feel a bit more collegiate when I put on my back pack! SOME and I do mean some (because if not done correctly it can become an EPIC FAIL) fanny packs, now my VINTRO teammate Roni owns a fanny pack and that would be considered a job well done, BUT the man in the local supermarket with his northface multi zippered fanny pack, well that is a disaster.
DO NOT unless you are under the age of 10 wear a cartoon character back pack!!!! For whatever reason that got super duper popular in high school and people are still doing it, WHY? WHY? Why are you 20 years old with a Dora Explorer back pack!!! My little niece wanted one soo bad but they were all out, I guess it is because your grown a** thought it would be a good idea to buy the last one you CREEPER!! As i said earlier please don't be that guy in Kroger with a huge camping trip fanny pack

Cinderella is proof that a pair of shoes can change your life.

Soo....How many people have seen an extemely cute outfit and you look at their shoes and you're like ummmmmmmmmmmm what happened dude?  Glatiators, pumps, dunks, chucks, toms, flats, loafers, mary janes, scream style! You have to pay attention to your shoes.  Yesterday, I went to an interview and I wore a bad pair of pumps by guess. Guess what the Manager at Macy's said as SOON as I walked in, "Girl those shoes are the business, Where did you get them from?"
( Betsey Johnson=My Dream Shoes)
She went on to tell me she had a love of shoes just like mine and that's why she put me at the top of the interview list and GUESS WHAT?!!! She hired me!!!!!You can have the simplest outfit on and have an amazing pair of shoes on and be the baddest in the room.  My girl Betty Boss, aka Leah McCrary,  has a pair of the most amazing Leapord print PUMPS I have ever seen in my life.  I asked her how much they were, come to find out they were only 55 bucks!!! Great shoes can be affordable all you have to do is look. Even if your going for the comfortable look, you can find interesting shoes to compliment your outfit.  TOMS are cozy super cool and for a good cause.  They just add that extra PIZZZZAAAAZZZZZ  to that razorback tee and comfortable pair of jeans that you put on for class, and can you can walk anywhere in them!!! Hello!!!! That's amazing in my book.  Take your time and pick out some amazing shoeees :) Thanks for reading my first entry :)!!!!! To Each his Own, Ours is Vintro!!! - Manolo Vintro
